Kkailou (Steph Dickinson) and Pie Factory Music present Meet Me at the Youth Club, a sonic love letter to the place that has held laughter, friendship and belonging for generations of young people in Ramsgate.
Created in collaboration with young people at Pie, the piece captures the heartbeat of their shared space: pool balls clattering, voices rising together, the warmth of memories made week by week. At once playful and tender, it is a collective song honouring the youth club as both sanctuary and stage, where the soundtrack of growing up is written in joy, resilience and community.
The installation invites listeners to step into the atmosphere of the youth club, to hear and feel what it means for those who call it theirs. It also welcomes visitors to leave their own love letter to the youth club. In a climate where youth services are being decimated, with funding cut and buildings sold, this piece honours the vital role these spaces play in young people’s lives. A portrait of youth, made by youth, carried on the air as part of the Ramsgate Sonic Trail.
